Scumbags

American Health Insurance companies will take insurance away from women seeking treatment for being being beaten up by their partner - - because being beaten by your husband is a pre-existing condition.

Under the cold logic of the insurance industry, it makes perfect sense: If you are in a marriage with someone who has beaten you in the past, you're more likely to get beaten again than the average person and are therefore more expensive to insure.

In human terms, it's a second punishment for a victim of domestic violence.

But anything that might restrict the power of insurance companies is soshalizum! Can't have that.

"Nearly 45,000 people die in the United States each year — one every 12 minutes — in large part because they lack health insurance and can not get good care, Harvard Medical School researchers found in an analysis released Thursday."

Thanks Alison, and in another boost for US reform, counting doctors who support a public option competing with the Private insurance companies combined with doctors who support replacing the the whole mess with a universal system, over 72% of American doctors support public healthcare.

And, a bit of a shocker in a even a stopped clock is right twice a day moment, so does Bill O'Reilly now.
