What a beautiful song and video, brought tears to my eyes. I've forwarded it to my activist contacts, but I'd really like to know who did the music? Any idea? Thanks!
To be fair to TFF, I did once see them do an unplugged version of this on a local cable show many years ago. IIRC, it was about this slow. Been rattling around in the back of my head ever since.
I've only ever heard the TFF original version. Lots of synth and much more upbeat.
I was about 15 when TFF were getting big, but by that point I was heavily into The Clash, DOA and the Dead Kennedys. Listening to New Romantics like TFF was culturally verboten - though I had a secret fondness for that famous Ah Ha video for Take On Me - recently hilariously parodied on Family Guy.

ReplyDeleteThanks!
Its by Gary Jules and Michael Andrews from the soundtrack to the amazing film Donnie Darko - it was also featured on an episode of CSI.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually a cover of a Tears For Fears song(!) The original is very 80's New Romantic and about twice the tempo - I prefer this version.
Thanks, Cliff - will have to see about getting a download and will check out the film too.
ReplyDeleteHard to believe it's a cover of TFF - I love this version, it's rather haunting, isn't it.
It's an earwig. You'll find yourself unconciously whistling it.
