From 1983 The Payolas, easily one of the best of the 80's New Wave, New Romantics bands and kings of the early 80's Vancouver scene when I lived there - at the time I was more into local punk bands like DOA and SNFU, but I could see the appeal. They should have, would have been huge but their name made American radio A&R guys recoil like vampires from holy water - naming your band after an infamous pay for play radio scandal, bad career move for future reference...
Where is this Love from Hammer on a Drum - still only available on vinyl or cassette was a gripping meditation on domestic abuse. Try to get past the hair.
