OK, tinfoil hat time.
First there's this.
And this.
And finally, be sure to read this.
Now think about the Bush administration. Really think about how irrational, reckless, venal and irresponsible we know this regime to be. How committed, on an arguably criminal level, they have shown themselves to total unrestricted power. Power free of restraint and oversight. Think about their willingness to throw away blood and treasure and lives. Think about their naive utopianism. Think about Bush; a dry drunk, uncurious, arrogant smirking thug with a messianic belief in his historic role.
If all that doesn't scare the shit out of you, you've got icewater running through your veins, Batman.

I honestly hope this is just a domestic fucking of the people and not another war.
Rights can be won back through relatively minor civil disobedience.
Wars kill.
Ugh. This Bush is the definition of tyrant.
I tend to think Joshua is right - it will be someting domestic, and I think it will be of the "huge terrorist attack thwarted" variety. These things are perfect for scaring the bejeesus out of the sheeple - they don't cost a dime, the media gobble them up and dissect them endlessly, and the claims, however outrageous, cannot be disproven.
Invading a country decimated by 12 years of sanctions is one thing. Running troops in 2 Middle Eastern locations while trying to scrounge up more troops to start trouble on a third front - and one which almost certainly has more nuclear capability than they let on - is folly that even this foul bunch won't be able to pull off.
They don't have the money, they don't have the troops and they don't have a crumb of credibility left with the majority of their people.
Rights can be won back with civil disobedience, but it has to be on a much larger scale and more sustained than it has been so far.
Yes that's the rational, logical reasonable conclusion.
But remember who we're talking about.
Cliff I know what you mean, but with midterms right around the corner, another attack/invasion would be suicidal for those nutjobs - surely SOMEONE in their inner circle must realize this.
Or am I just being hopelessly optimistic?
Guess time will tell...
