Chuckwagon horse slaughter continues

It's never a matter of if any horses will die during the Stampede Chuckwagon races. The only question, year in and year out is how many. Twenty-two in the last decade.

Twenty-two!

Twenty-two beautiful majestic animals dead to cater to the juvenile ego of idiots showing off how big their balls are.

One so far this year. Driven by macho idiots to terrified, exhausted death by heart attack.

A horse has died of a heart attack after completing a race at the Calgary Stampede.

Stampede officials said the horse died on Sunday night after the first heat of the GMC Rangeland Derby chuckwagon race, an event where teams of horses pull wagons around a dirt track.

The animal was returning to the barn when it collapsed.

How many more before this murderous idiocy is finally over?

..."Twenty-two beautiful majestic animals dead to cater to the juvenile ego of idiots showing off how big their balls are".

AGREED!!!

Whenever I sit and watch the rodeo with my hubby,I just keep making comments about how what they are doing could NOT be hurting them? And everytime,my hubby replies,"It's NOT hurting them!".To which I reply,"Did one of the horses/cows tell you that personally?".

I love living in Alberta. But ashamed of Rodeo.(Worst part is I have a few family members who are part of it,as riders).

Nice to see you're putting out the thoughts that should be heard! Not like these poor animals can speak for themselves!(Unless you're a cowboy/farm person who doesn't think rodeo "hurts" animals in any way.DUH).

Had to come back to update. After the death of this horse, there was a steer killed in the "steer wrestling" event.Total animal deaths at the 2009 Calgary Stampede Rodeo = 4.
Here is a link regarding animal activists who were just outside the Stampede.Loved the comment by 4commonsense!
