By elevating popular fancy over truth, Democracy is clearly an enemy of not just truth, but duty and justice, which makes it the worst form of government. President Bush must overcome not just the situation in Iraq, but democratic government. This is where the American right wing's heads are at now. Be aware.
However, President Bush has a valuable historical example that he could choose to follow.
When the ancient Roman general Julius Caesar was struggling to conquer ancient Gaul, he not only had to defeat the Gauls, but he also had to defeat his political enemies in Rome who would destroy him the moment his tenure as consul(president) ended.
Caesar pacified Gaul by mass slaughter; he then used his successful army to crush all political opposition at home and establish himself as permanent ruler of ancient Rome. This brilliant action not only ended the personal threat to Caesar, but ended the civil chaos that was threatening anarchy in ancient Rome – thus marking the start of the ancient Roman Empire that gave peace and prosperity to the known world.
If President Bush copied Julius Caesar by ordering his army to empty Iraq of Arabs and repopulate the country with Americans, he would achieve immediate results: popularity with his military; enrichment of America by converting an Arabian Iraq into an American Iraq (therefore turning it from a liability to an asset); and boost American prestiege while terrifying American enemies.
He could then follow Caesar's example and use his newfound popularity with the military to wield military power to become the first permanent president of America, and end the civil chaos caused by the continually squabbling Congress and the out-of-control Supreme Court.
President Bush can fail in his duty to himself, his country, and his God, by becoming “ex-president” Bush or he can become “President-for-Life” Bush: the conqueror of Iraq, who brings sense to the Congress and sanity to the Supreme Court. Then who would be able to stop Bush from emulating Augustus Caesar and becoming ruler of the world? For only an America united under one ruler has the power to save humanity from the threat of a new Dark Age wrought by terrorists armed with nuclear weapons.

Google Cache is forever
Right wing American group Family Security Matters (Their board includes talk show hosts Laura Ingraham and Monica Crowley, Center for Security Policy president Frank Gaffney Jr., and former CIA director R. James Woolsey. ) and their spokesman Philip Atkinson have been frantically purging their site of material like articles calling for genocide in the Middle East or this piece, available now only in Google's cache wistfully hoping for a Bush Fascist coup:

I'd just hold off slightly on lumping Woolsey in with the "right wingers".
He's a conservative, it's true, but a conservative Democrat.
Now, on security and foreign policy he's quite the hawk, and he was part of PNAC, so there's that. He is a multidimensional person though. For example, he serves on the board of Plug In America (http://www.pluginamerica.com/) a group dedicated to promoting electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles and getting us away from fossil fuels.
Maybe I'm giving him too much slack. I guess he just really charmed me in "Who killed the Electric Car" and I felt the need to comment.
:-)

So were neo-con patron saints Henry 'Scoop' Jackson and Daniel Patrick Moynihan. Hell, so was Jeane fncking Kirkpatrick.
'Democrat' /= 'liberal'.
Also, it should be noted that Woolsley is a 'green' primarily because he feels that US dependence on Middle East oil is a dangerous national security risk, not out of any sense of global stewardship.
I have no problem lumping him in with the rest of the 'more rubble, less trouble crowd', even if (like Zell Miller and, until recently, Joe Lieberman) he has a 'D' on his voter registration card (and happens to look really cute driving a Prius).

Holy Crap!!!
Fair enough Matt.
I was having similar thoughts as I wrote my comment.
I guess I'm just a sucker for a guy in a Prius!

Who isn't, LKO?

I've always been in favor of those who want us to succeed in Iraq simply learning Arabic and moving there. Would've worked in Vietnam too by the way... though perhaps not with Arabic training.
It mystifies me how so many people can see this as a clash of civilizations, a battle for the very survival of the Nation, and not do shit about it.
Nation of Pussies.
